Mark Stuart provided hospitality diners at the recent Rochdale v Yeovil match with a very interesting twenty minutes of his time in professional football, especially at Dale playing under Graham Barrow and Mick Docherty including the Monday Club plus the trip down to Colchester United.
He spoke of his career start at Charlton Athletic, where he made his debut at seventeen years of age being the brunt of John Humphries initiation antics which wouldn’t be acceptable now but part of growing up back in the day!!!!
After moves to Plymouth Argyle, Ipswich Town on loan, Bradford City and Huddersfield Town, he landed at Rochdale after a meeting with the eccentric Dave Sutton dressed only in a pair of blue shorts and flip flops and prone to sunbathing on the pitch rather down watching the pre-season build up at Tandle Hills.
On his favourite Dale goal, Mark was adamant that the winner in the 1-0 victory over Bury was the stand out moment plus best players being Jason Peake and Gary Jones.
The Monday Club and Colchester United trip can be found back on 13th November 2024
